“GIVE US MORE”: CORRIE FANS EXPLODE AFTER A SCENE THAT FINALLY DELIVERED!
Coronation Street fans declare ‘give us more’ after moment that ‘didn’t disappoint’
Sally Metcalfe was keen to chat to Lisa Swain and Carla Connor
Coronation Street fans have made a demand for ‘more’ after a moment that was teased in spoilers for this week’s episodes ‘didn’t disappoint’.
It’s been quite the week if you’re a fan of Lisa Swain and Carla Connor after the couple, dubbed ‘Swarla’, finally reunited after their recent turmoil at the hands of Lisa’s ex-wife, Becky Swain.
As fans of the ITV soap know, Lisa and Carla have been through more than most in their relationship. But it was Becky’s return from the dead in September that appeared to be what could split them for good.
Becky’s reappearance, after it was believed she had been killed in the line of duty, came on her and Lisa’s daughter Betsy’s 18th birthday, as well as days after Lisa popped the question to Carla and the pair became engaged. It was clear her plan was to tear Lisa’s new, happy life apart and get her family back together, and it appeared she had succeeded.
She plotted to run away with Lisa and their daughter. In a bid to get what she wanted, Becky kidnapped Carla and convinced Lisa to join her and Betsy for a new life abroad. But that was before her fake death was exposed once and for all. She kidnapped Carla in a bid to aid her plan, before becoming involved in a horrific car crash on the way to Hull to catch a ferry to Rotterdam.
Thankfully, Lisa and Betsy survived, as did Becky. But her future is quite bleak after Lisa, despite being treated in an ambulance, arrested her, and viewers have since seen her be sentenced to 12 years for her crimes.
Becky’s prison sentence didn’t lead to an immediate reunion for Lisa and Carla, as, despite Lisa’s apologies and attempts at reconciliation, Carla seemed unable to forgive her, knowing she hadn’t been listened to when it came to her concerns about Becky, and that she’d slept with her ex during her period of disappearance.
But during Thursday’s (January 22) edition of Corrie, after being confronted by the drunken detective, Carla attempted to sort a hangover cure for her partner, before she later told Lisa that she loved her. Despite saying it would take time and they’d need to take things slow, the loved-up couple kissed before heading upstairs and the Underworld factory boss delighted in telling everyone in the Rovers they were back together.
What the newly reunited women didn’t expect was to have Sally Metcalfe in the living room not too long after, opening up about her own marriage woes. During Friday’s (January 23) episode, She was seen searching for advice from the couple, but couldn’t help but drop in some classic Sally moments that fans were quick to lap up. But it seems Carla wasn’t as keen to entertain Sally at No.6, and ended up calling for Tim Metcalfe to come and collect his wife.
Following the scenes, Corrie fans rushed to social media to comment – and many shared a demand. @TheConnorSwains said: “Sally did not disappoint #Swarla #Corrie.” @Paw135792468 posted: “Sally was brilliant with Swarla today. More comedy scenes plz corrie! #swarla #corrie.”
