Coronation Street actress Tanisha Gorey has shared some wonderful personal news in a touching social media update. The star, who plays Asha Alahan on the ITV soap, has revealed that she’s engaged to her partner, Lucas Wan.
Taking to Instagram on January 17, Gorey posted a series of adorable photos with the caption “Still crying,” alongside tearful, ring, and harp emojis. The images included a heart-shaped cake decorated with the words “Just Engaged,” surrounded by Polaroid snaps of the happy couple. Fans were also treated to close-up shots of Tanisha proudly showing off her stunning engagement ring, as well as a peek at the romantic proposal itself. One photo shows her standing in a bedroom holding a huge bouquet of flowers, with heart-shaped balloons covering the ceiling and balloon letters behind her spelling out “I love you.”
The comments section quickly filled with love and congratulations from fans and Corrie co-stars alike. Messages poured in from the likes of Alan Halsall, Jane Danson, Leanne Battersby, Mollie Gallagher, Vicky Myers, and many more. Sue Devaney wrote, “Congratulations to you and Lucas. So happy for you both. Love you very much,” while Sally Dynevor added, “Fantastic news. So happy for you, darling. Congratulations.” Others echoed the excitement, calling the engagement a beautiful way to start the new year.
Tony Maudsley also joined in with a joke, saying he was thrilled for her—though slightly disappointed not to have received any cake.
The happy announcement comes shortly after Asha’s dramatic return to the spotlight in the recent Coronation Street crossover, where the former paramedic stepped in to help victims of the crash. Despite previously leaving medicine behind, Asha realized she still wanted to make a difference and reapplied for her training. The big question now is whether her return to the field will go smoothly.
