If you thought Coronation Street’s Carl Webster had already sunk to his lowest point, tonight’s episode proved there was still plenty of room for him to fall. Just when it seemed like he couldn’t get any more despicable after tearing his own family apart, Carl revealed an even darker side—this time by openly threatening his ex-girlfriend, Abby Webster.
The episode begins with Carl slipping effortlessly back into his familiar charm offensive. Spotting newcomer Jod Ramsay struggling behind the café counter while filling in for Nina Lucas, Carl wastes no time stepping in to “help.” Playing the smooth operator, he quickly wins Jod over, helping her with the till and striking up a flirtatious conversation. During their chat, Carl casually reveals that he plans to leave Weatherfield as soon as he manages to scrape together enough money—a statement that immediately raises red flags for viewers who know him all too well.
However, the lighthearted moment comes to an abrupt end when Abby walks in and spots her ex. Clearly unsettled by his presence, she promptly turns around and leaves without a word.
Later, Carl’s arrival at The Rovers causes even more discomfort, driving both Summer Spellman and Nina out of the pub. Jod can’t help but notice the pattern and questions Carl about why so many people seem to dislike him. Despite the warning signs, she still accepts his offer to buy her a drink, clearly intrigued by his charm.
From a distance, Abby watches the pair sharing yet another flirtatious exchange as they leave the pub together. Furious and fed up, she brands Jod as Carl’s “next victim,” refusing to stay silent any longer. Carl, however, snaps back with venom, mocking Abby and dismissing her accusations as tired and predictable. He cruelly insists he never forced her into anything and delivers a deeply offensive remark meant to humiliate and belittle her.
Abby, no longer willing to tolerate his behavior, fires back, calling him scum and vowing to make sure everyone knows exactly what kind of man he is. For once, her words strike a nerve. Carl’s usual laid-back attitude disappears, replaced by something far more menacing. Lowering his voice, he warns Abby to be careful about what she says.
When Abby defiantly insists she’s not afraid of him, Carl’s chilling response says it all: “You should be.”
Viewers know all too well that Carl is more than capable of following through on a threat like that. The question now is whether Abby will back down—or whether this dangerous feud is about to escalate even further. Just how far will Carl go to silence her, and who might end up paying the price?
