Coronation Street star Jude Riordan has responded to fears he is set to leave the long-running show after fans spotted what is considered a ‘telltale sign’ that an actor is set to move of from their role.
Those who follow the ITV soap best know the young actor for playing Sam Blakeman. He arrived in Weatherfield in 2020 as the son of Nick Tilsley and the late Natasha Blakeman.
And Jude, who is also known for playing Tyler Croft in the Sky Comedy, Brassic, made quite the impact during his debut in Corrie, as he went on to pick up the best newcomer gong at the National Television Awards in 2021.
But it was Jude’s latest social media post that sparked worry among some that his time in Weatherfield was coming to an end. The soap star took to Instagram with a string of new headshots, which often sparks fear in fans that the actor posting is on the look out for a new role.
However, this isn’t always the reason why and in Jude’s case, he was just looking for some glossy new images for his portfolio. Sharing the images on Instagram, he said: “NEW HEADSHOTS [camera emoji] @jamesmelia #actor #headshots #update.”
And it was when one fan asked: “Have you left Corrie? Hope not, great actor,” that Jude replied: “Nope! Just look very different from last year’s headshots!”

It comes after Jude was seen addressing his more grown-up appearance after some thought the role of Sam had been recast. Before Christmas, as he headed off on his festive break, the actor shared a string of photos in which he could be seen at the Trafford-based set, including with his co-star Jane Hazlegrove, who plays Bernie Winter.
Captioning the post, he wrote: “And that’s a Christmas wrap on 2025 Corrie. It’s always a good week when you have scenes with Bernie! Loads of exciting stuff coming in 2026. STAY TUNED #corrie #samblakeman #corriekids #BTS #onthecobbles #coronationstreet #christmas.”
But as the post was flooded with comments, Jude returned to his caption and added: “EDIT – I’m still Sam it’s not a recast [crying laughing emoji],” as many were surprised by how much his had changed in recent months and years.
It was recently confirmed that he will be part of an upcoming storyline that will impact Sam’s wellbeing. It’s been revealed that he’ll have a role in uncovering Megan’s grooming of Will Driscoll, and it doesn’t sound like he’ll fair well in the ordeal.
Corrie’s producer Kate Brooks teased: “Sam is obviously semi-related to the pub family, and he potentially gets wind that something’s amiss. We will see the lengths that Megan will go to to manipulate Sam and to keep him quiet, and it will be massively detrimental to Sam’s wellbeing.”
