Coronation Street fans have spotted an ‘obvious’ flaw in Debbie Webster’s plan to take the blame for Carl’s drink-driving which contributed to a horror crash.

The horror incident took place during the one-off episode, Corriedale, which saw Corrie and Emmerdale crossover for the first time, and featured a number of characters from both Weatherfield and the Dales either in danger or trying to help those in need.

Carl and Debbie’s involvement came as he planned his escape after her dramatic wedding to Ronnie Bailey over in Yorkshire. Tensions flared between warring brothers Carl and Kevin during Debbie’s big day, despite her plea for her siblings to play nice.

But Debbie had no idea that Abi was secretly orchestrating her lover Carl’s downfall, having found his hidden bag of cash, which he’d been secretly stealing from his sister following her dementia diagnosis, and a one-way ticket out of Manchester back to Germany.

After Kevin tried to expose Carl for the hit and run on Tyrone Dobbs, and Abi confronted him over his plans to flee and his fling with James Bailey, a drunk Carl was seen heading to his car, determined to get away from Weatherfield for good. Debbie tried to stop him, but he was undeterred, even when she joined him in the vehicle.

Soon, on the stormy road between Hotten and Weatherfield, tensions reached a climax between Carl and Debbie and he was seen losing control of the car, ploughing into the existing wreckages that had already piled up between Becky, Lisa and Betsy Swain, and Emmerdale’s Aaron Dingle and John Sugden.

The crash continued to go from bad to worse and in a cruel twist, Carl, who later collapsed and was aided by trainee paramedic Asha Alahan, pulled his unconscious sister, who was diagnosed with dementia last year, from the passenger side into the driver’s seat to make it seem like she was behind the wheel, and therefore partly to blame for the accident.

While their brother, Kevin, has been determined to make Debbie see Carl is lying, and that he saw him driving as they left the wedding venue, Debbie has been determined to take the blame herself, believing that they had stopped to swap seats before the crash even took place.

Debbie has since been questioned by the police over the incident, and as seen during Thursday’s (January 8) episode of the ITV soap, it was revealed that the hotel owner, who was diagnosed with dementia last year, now faces three charges of death by dangerous driving and excess alcohol.

But Corrie fans are crying out for an ‘obvious’ flaw to be rectified, after it was revealed Debbie is hiding her injuries, with those caused by a seatbelt confirmed she couldn’t have been driving at the time of the crash.

@BigScotsLass asked: “How has Ronnie no clocked the seat belt bruising on Debbie? #Corrie.” @MJ_JJ061215 said: “Surely when Debbie and Ronnie go to bed…Ronnie will see her in the nuddy and see that her seat belt bruise is on the “passenger” side of her body?!? #Corrie #CoronationStreet.”

@iamjamietv questioned: “Is Debbie hiding the seat belt bruising from Ronnie? #Corrie.” @CxxPIPxx posted: “Surely Ronnie’s seen Debbie’s injuries, so it’d be obvious she’s lying about driving #Corrie.” @Fake_TV_Chef added: “But Debbie was checked out at the hospital, surely they made a note that she had bruising from the seat belt like Kevin said and that would clear her and place the rightful blame on Carl. #Corrie.”
