EastEnders reveals the Slaters’ new fears in Christmas fallout
EastEnders has revealed the latest fears for the Slater family in the fallout from Christmas. With Jean Slater’s mental state continuing to deteriorate, her family grows concerned for her wellbeing.
Viewers know that Jean has lived with bipolar disorder all her life, sometimes having manic episodes. After Jean’s daughter Stacey left to go and live in South America back in October, Jean’s mental health has been spiralling.
Earlier this month, Jean ‘s granddaughter Lily tried to intervene and sought help for Jean, who refused to go to therapy and insisted that she was taking her medication .
In recent scenes, Kat and Alfie Moon discovered the extent of Jean’s struggles after Jean admitted that she had been isolating herself following Stacey’s departure.
After Lily opened up to Kat and Alfie about just how badly her nan had been coping, Kat had a heart-to-heart with Jean – who admitted to writing a threatening message to Zoe in Christmas lights in The Vic’s window.
During the Christmas Day two-parter, Anthony went to ambush Zoe in the upstairs of the pub. After a fight ensued, he knocked Zoe unconscious.
Kat was horrified to find Zoe lying injured in the pub with Anthony laying dead beside her, and the mystery of who killed him is yet to be revealed.
In scenes set to air on Monday, 5 January and Tuesday, 6 January, the Slaters continue to deal with the consequences of Christmas, leading Kat to set out on a desperate mission to help Zoe.
Meanwhile, the impact of events on Jean leaves her loved ones feeling concerned about the state of her mental health.
The next day, Eve and Lily try to support Jean, but after deliberating, the pair fear that Jean might need some professional help.
Yolande also voices her concerns about Jean to Alfie, who tries to talk to Jean about what’s going on with her.
Later, Jean’s behaviour causes even more concern. Will she get the help she needs?
